-4.0 -Sophomore at IB School -I went to a Catholic School last year, but switched to a brand new school that opened this year -Live in Tennessee -Taking most difficult classes offered - (So Far)Honors Physical Science, Honors Algebra, Honors English 9, Honors Writing Lab, Honors Biology, Honors Geometry, French 1, Religion (Required), AP US History, Honors Algebra 2, French 2, Honors Chemistry, Honors Pre-cal, Honors English 10, Art 1, &Web Foundations. -Next year, I'll be done with most of my course requirements to graduate so I'll be taking predominantly dual-enrollment classes through my school. -I am in Film Club, Environmental Club, (Knitting last year), Student Council, and Lacrosse Club (my school does clubs during school hours so I'm able to be in a lot of them) -I play Rec.Lacrosse; there isn't a lacrosse team at my school -I'll be getting a job at a book store or toy store soon -I volunteer at a Hospital and animal shelter on weekends and in my spare time with my best friend for recreation, I have over 300 hours -I'm already doing ACT/SAT prep -I will have taken 4 years of French and two of Latin when I graduate -I can play the clarinet, and I'm teaching myself to play the piano -I'm a vegetarian -I'm extremely liberal -I want to go into medicine or psychology -I helped plan a Film club trip to go to a film festival and I helped with fundraising -I'm in the gifted program -I will need a scholarship/financial aid/loans I'm looking at Brown (my first choice), Williams, Harvard, Cornell, Tufts, Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, Duke, etc. I know I'm applying early decision to Brown. What are my chances at these schools? What can I do to improve my chances? Are there any other schools that I should be looking at? more

Voting Question: Why do i feel suicidal?

I will be going to a 4th tier school this fall. This is depressing me more every day that passes. Why? Well with the grades I got in High School that is not the place nor the people I should be studying with. I passed ten AP classes and took three more AP classes but didn't take the test in May. I am tri-lingual and my ***. unweighted gpa was 3.81. I got a 26 on my ACT and a 1,760 on my SAT. I got a 760 on my SAT Subject Spanish and a 590 on my US History SAT. I was president of French and Spanish Club. Academic All American in Debate as well as taking 2nd and 1st (junior and then senior respectively) place impromptu in the state debate meet as well as qualifying twice for NFL debate nationals and competing once. I was one of the school newspaper editors, member of National Honors Society, run track & field sophomore year, cross country junior year. Completed many hours of service with my local food bank. I could go on for a few more lines but I think I made my point. I am getting close to starting college but this doesn't sound like the college experience everyone talks about. With the demographics of the school that I will go to being over 70% black with an average gpa of 2.3 I want to kill myself already. Why did I not go to a better school, not because I didn't get accepted bec. University of Santa Clara, University of San Francisco, Tufts University, University of Utah, University of Michigan and New York University all accepted me. The problem is that none offered enough financial aid so that I could go there. Help me with suggestions. WHAT CAN I DO TO CALM MYSELF???? more

Resolved Question: which is the best Ivy League school for a liberal arts program..prefrably literature or psychology?

Ive applied ED to Cornell, my result comes out in a few hours! Though im not too sure about getting in! I would like to know how good/bad is cornell amongst other ivy league schools? My SAT score is 2030 and 2180( in my subject sat) Im the chief editor of my school magazine and a running editor sonce 7th grade. I've also done a lot of community service. Could you tell me what are my chance of getting into cornell? (no financial aid) Also, if i wish to, is it possible to tranfer in my second year? Im an international student from India. rutgers university new brunswick- admitted to honors college with scholarship (would only pay room and board) also, i'm an nj resident wellesley - accepted smith bryn mawr amherst williams tufts georgetown lafayette so there's that whole too poor to shell out 40gs, too rich to get a lot of financial aid. i'm applying for merit scholarships, but basically i think i'm looking at at least 20k total for undergrad if i go to a private college. my interests are political science, french, english. i'd like to be a scholar, politician, writer or something cool wehn i grow up. it's very important to me to have access to professors, an engaged ommunity of learners and enthusiastic people. i also want to go to grad school, for what i'm not sure, probably public policy or politics. more

Resolved Question: What Boston univeristy should I attend?

I moved here last year for my work, but I am going to school in the fall to finish my bachelor's. I am close to finishing my bachelor's in either political science or finance. I am married, and the combined salaries of my spouse and I might allow for a good amount of financial aid. So... what school should I go to? I am eyeing Northeastern and Suffolk. What other schools (besides heavyweights Harvard, MIT, Brandeis, and Tufts) should I look into? I need them to be in the Boston/Cambridge area, not in the surrounding areas (such as Waltham, Sudbury, etc.) - in other words, I need to get there by public transportation. Thanks! more

Would my chance to get in a US College( for example NYU, Columbia, tufts or whatever) be same if I apply with financial aid or without financial aid?
