Both of these schools are not cheap. University of Phoenix costs $325 per credit hour (There are 60 credit hours) Liberty University costs $250 per credit hour (There are 62 credit hours) Considering my husband is a State employee he makes too much money so therefore I wouldn't qualify for federal financial aid. This is the situation: I'm currently gonna be going to DeVry University (not Institute anymore) in Austin, Tx. I heard this program barely opened up recently, about maybe 6 months to a year ago for many of the DeVry campuses. I will be starting this program around March. I have not yet paid any money for tuition and all that yet so I'm not in any financial predicaments or anything, yet... Well here's my question: I've been hearing alotta good things and ALOTTA bad things about DeVry, about the degree you earn not worth crap or hard to find jobs after you graduate with your degree. Now, I'm not sure if the difficulty of finding a job depends on what you major in, or simply the effort that people are putting is just not enough. I'm pretty sure what you're majoring in greatly effects the chances of you getting hired somewhere. So I'm asking, is there anyone out there that has graduated from DeVry with success of finding a great career? And if so, explain in detail what you majored in and how the experience was during and after you graduated. If the experience was bad, explain how it was during and after you graduated; and of course what you majored in. I'm specifically looking for answers more along the Game Design program that DeVry just opened, maybe people that have graduated or are actually in the Game Simulation and Design program. Hello! I currently attend Ashford University online and want to transfer to Baker College online. I'm asking this here because I want to get other parent's advice/suggestions. I was going to school to get my Accounting Degree until I discovered partying and then school came to an end (oops..). Then I went back for a semester, but then my job ended our financial aid for college and I didn't want to take any more student loans out for school, so I quit again. Now, I'm thinking about going back to finish my degree. I'm a single mom (although I have a ton of help from my family). I would only take online courses through the college here in town so I would be able to be at home with my son while I'm doing my classwork. I also work full time. Being a 30 year old, single, working mom... Is it possible to still be able to take college courses AND give my son the attention he needs? I have a few questions about those that have attended the University of Phoenix to get their degree. Did the degree allow you to move ahead in the job force? Did employers snub you at all for obtaining a degree from an online university? O.K., I'm a school student with no financial aid right now. I'm majoring in Business Management. I work a 3rd shift job and I get off work at 7 a.m., I go to school at 9:30a.m. to 3 p.m. 3 days a week, while on the other 2 days it's 1p.m. to 2 p.m., However, when I'm not doing the full day I'm studying and doing my homework for classes. My grades are good. I'm starting up a business online in the midst of the two things already going on. I try to get some sleep, but if I get too much sleep on days when I am able to, I end up sleeping too much and I can take my online business starting out,(Which I've already started..it's in blueprint mode-Editing webpage and setting it up) However, I feel that sleep is really making me cut short on my business arrangements. I'm a poor person, doing whatever the hell it takes to get out of poverty-the legal way. Nothing comes easy I know this. That's why you see the struggle. If something doesn't give, however, I might not make it. I need some effective direction, because right now it just feels like I'm going in circles. A whole lot of goal chasing but no results. How can I get my online business started and be successful, and get my college degree in Business Management, and stay afloat on my bills? I didn't get financial aid this semester either. I need some art advice. I went to SVA and I have a degree in animation/film. I tried getting a job in animation and it didn't work out for me. I want to get my own comics published and distributed. I want to go back to school and get a degree in Illustration/Cartooning so I can get the training I need to work as a comic artist/writer/creator. My problem is I have issues with my financial aid, and I can't get a degree online till that's taken care of. I tried taking classes in a local art school in the meantime-but they didn't have too classes related to illustration/cartooning and comic art-I did have a comic creativity course but that was it and I have some 2-D and 3-D drawing classes. It would be to my benefit if I have an Illustration/Cartooning degree since a lot of jobs look for that, and some places need animators-I tried getting jobs through the alumni dept. at my old school-but I can't get down to them anyway-I can't afford the commute. I live in upstate NY and these jobs are down in NYC and Long Island-I can't get to the freelance ones. I was told by some people you need a cartooning degree to get a cartooning/illustration job, and others said having a cartooning degree isn't necessary if you want a job in comics. My animation degree isn't enough-you have to have training to work as a comics artist/writer/illustrator. I tried finding out about the art programs at my local colleges-they don't have what I am looking for. I considered The Art Instruction Schools-they are the company that advertises the free art test which you complete and return to them so they can evaluate it. I found out their work-at-home program costs $130 for enrollment and $130/month each month after for 26 months. Right now I can't afford that. Until I get situated financially what can I do to get the training I need-where should I go? Does anyone here know anything about getting funding to get my work out there? more

I am so frustrated. I have been unemployed for over 4 months now, ever since I moved to the Providence RI area (ranked #1 worst job market in the country). I moved here with my husband's military career and though I have a bachelor's degree and 5+ years experience in graphic design, I have not been able to get a job. I am online every day on the various job sites hunting for and applying for things. I have reworked my resume, cover letter and references. I have "snail" mailed applications, and applying to things outside of my field. I am frustrated because I have run out of money and can't pay my bills, the jobs that are available here ar part time clerical or medical or retail types. Part time would be some money, yes, but I still won't be able to cover all my bills with it. I cannot type- I have tried learning and I still can only type 16 WPM max. I am frustrated that people think just because I am a military wife, I should be happy to take any old job and like it, too. I have worked retail before and developed severe back pain as a result fo my heavy breasts. Military insurance will NOT pay for a breast reduction so am I just supposed to suffer with the pain and go work at Sears? Then when a permanent injury occurs (as it did with my dad) THEN what am I going to do? People tell me to just start a business doing freelance design, and I have tried, posting and posting and posting on craigslist, joining networking sites, building a site for my businesses but nothing is bringing in any money. I had another website to sell toiletries and such but in this economy I guess people aren't buying "luxury items" like that, so I have had to stop doing it as I can't afford to process the cc payments or advertise anymore. I'd like to go back to school but, again, no money, and I have missed the financial aid deadline for this year. Even if they'd pay my way through school i still would have no way to pay my bills. I have tried temp agencies, they all say they will call me when something comes in and I never hear anything else. I have tried telecommuting and work from home things and it's usually some job where they want you to do MLM, door to door or try to sell some crap to people they do not want, or they promise you this huge "salary" or say "unlimited salary" when you pay like $35 to join and just talk to everyone you see about the program (the only ones getting rich are the originators). I need some real help. I know we can't always get what we want but am I totally wrong for not wanting to take a menial job after I have spent years and thousands of dollars learning and then honing my craft? I actually wanted to cry when I went into a local retail store the other day for an application. I just feel trapped. Please no links to check out "opportunities" thanks! I took a typing test at a employment agency. For data entry, I scored 16 WPM alphabetical, 12 WPM numerical. I just have trouble taking what I see and copying it by typing. Now I've been reading other opinions on the college and have been getting "mixed" answers. So far the most logical one I found is that, it is legit to earn a Bachelors Degree etc, but employers I guess you can say "frown" upon it? So here's my story. I live in Spokane, WA. I just graduated out of high school and am currently looking for a college to go to. I want to do something with computers or electronics. Networking, Building Computers etc. So far I have contacted Spokane Community College and the U of P. The money situation in the family is tight, we only get one income, and the problem is that we still I guess you can say, make more than some to really qualify for Financial Aid etc. The counselor we talked to at the U of P the other day gave us the basic sheets etc, info, financial aid, and the cost of it. Avg. school cost at U of P is $9,750 per year, and SCC in-state is around $1,726 per year. So is there really any benefits of the college at all to pay extra? more

Im really at a loss for where to start or go. Ive already checked out UofPheonix online and thats a no go. they want rediculous amounts of money and even though Ive been approved elsewhere for Financial Aid they say Im not approved through them which makes me believe its all just a gimmic to get more money out of me. additionally, please no suggestions that i go to a B&M school. Obviously, If i was able to i would, but certain health circumstances make it impossible to have that option. So if you have no helpful information to give then please just dont give any. I already have my Associates degree from Ashworth University, and I majored in Early Childhood Education there, but I really want a career change!! Voting Question: Paying for college?

I was in college four years ago and I enjoyed myself a little too much, so I withdrew from classes so I wouldn't receive "F" grades. Now I'm ready to go back, but I have been working the in the meantime and I haven't really saved enough to pay outright for my education. I make too much to receive financial aid through the government, I have limited credit (decent score, just not a long history), and I still have bills to pay (car payment and apartment rent). I don't think that I would qualify for private loans (I don't think many banks are even taking the risk with private student loans anymore). I'm looking to see what some options are for furthering my education. I want to attend full time and I don't want to even think about doing an online degree. Are private loans the only way to go if I don't qualify for gov't loans? more

Voting Question: I have a BSBA ( bachelor of science & administration) I want to get into nursing. What is the best way?

I have a BSBA. I want so badly to get into the nursing field. My question is how do I go about doing that. Do I start at the beginning as an LPN? My thing is time I don't have 2-3 years to go to school in a classroom setting I have 4 kids and I am a single mother. I can bridge my degree to get a BSN, but there is only one school in Orlando that does that and its very competitive and I just don't have the time to wait, I kind of want to get my LPN nursing degree and then do LPN to RN online, so I can start working. Also does anyone know of any type of funding besides financial aid, my aid ran out for undergrad so I cannot get anymore financial aid until I pursue a Masters degree. This is a distance education school, and I was just wondering will it be accepted among employers. They are a sub-division of Cleveland Institute of Electronics to offer bachelor degrees in Computer Information System with Network Security which has been around since 1934. CIE is actually qualified to give financial aid by the government, but World College is not because it's fairly new. I figured it has to be legit because of this, and they're also accredited by DETC and certified by the state council of higher education for Virginia. I don't need to know what schools will accept it after I achieve the degree; I've already checked that out. I need to know will it be worth the while, because it's the only thing I can afford right now considering they offer a low $125 a month payment plan. So, after I receive the degree, and all those computer certifications, will it make any difference to an employer that it's an online institution? Good day to everyone, pleasure to meet you. I am 19 years old, turning 20 in June, if the lords will. I need to know a good online college that has good financial aid. Both my parents are disabled and things, so I want to get a degree and have a good life. That way, I can help them out as well. Resolved Question: Totally freaking out...why was I denied financial aid?

Okay, so here is the situation. I was taking classes online through University of Phoenix (Axia). I completed 24 credits with GPA of 2.62. I moved away from the situation I was in that didn't allow me to go to a real school. I enrolled in my local community college. If I would have continued Axia, I would have earned an AA. I'm in a AS degree now which is so much better for me because I have a child and can't go to school for four years. Everything seemed to be going fine. I canceled my aid with UoP and thought I was granted aid with the community college. I checked online periodically to see what was going on with it. My grants, loans, etc was accepted until now. Now they all say denied. I only made $5000 dollars last year and I have a child so I know my income is not the issue. more

I have 2 small kids and I would like to get a degree from college. I have no college experience at all. I would like to pursue a career in Nursing. My problem is, does any aid pay for online classes or daycare?The school says you have to take 2 years of pre-reqs and then 2 years of clinical ( by that point, 1 of my kids will be in school). Hello everyone, My husband has been working doing landscape and grounds keeping for golf courses most of his life and now he is looking to get a degree in turf management in order to become a superintendent. Due to work schedules, he needs an online program. We have found only one in our search and it is through Penn State. They are a bit expensive though. I am also enrolled in college right now and will be for at least the next 2 years. Paying for us both to be in school will be difficult but definately worth it. We just want to see if there are any other schools so maybe we can find a lower tuition or maybe a school that offers more in terms of loans and such since financial aid will unfortunately only be covering a small portion of his tuition. I have a son, and am pregnant. I recently finished school for medical coding and billing (did this just to be able to get a non-retail job while going to school), and want to get my BSIT, Info Tech Bachelor degree.
